AI Robot ELSI Initiative: Participating in the ELSI University Summit

As part of the Moonshot Kunii Project’s ELSI-related initiatives, Project Manager Kunii gave a report focused on AI robot ELSI at the ELSI University Summit organized by the Chuo University ELSI Center and The University of Osaka ELSI Center. At the summit, which spanned two days, ELSI researchers from universities and research organizations around Japan gathered in one place, with groups engaged in a variety of AI research as well as research utilizing AI coming together to discuss challenges from the present to the future.

1st ELSI University Summit

[Purpose] With ELSI and RRI initiatives rapidly developing in Japan and abroad, the summit aims to concentrate on research areas and social challenges related to advanced AI in academia and industry, sharing current challenges, the future outlook and advanced case studies. By linking multiple stakeholders, the summit will further advance Japan’s ELSI and RRI efforts and accelerate R&D and innovation in advanced science and technology fields, while looking for sophisticated solutions to the associated social challenges to envision how a better future society will look.
