Some time after 12:20 a.m. on January 20, 2024, Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM), a compact lunar landing demonstration vehicle, touched down on the surface of the Moon! And there’s more! LEV-1 and LEV-2 successfully detached from SLIM and commenced operations!
Early in the morning, word was received from Project Manager Yasuharu Kunii that LEV-1 was emitting radio signals without issue and was engaged in activities. What a relief!
A huge congratulations to everyone involved is in order. We are rooting for LEV-1, LEV-2 and SLIM in their ongoing mission! Building on the successes of LEV-1, the robots under development in the Moonshot R&D Project will follow in its footsteps in the years to come.
